28. The Water (Amendment) Bill, 2023

The Water Amendment Bill 2023 seeks to amend the Water Act 2016 to provide for Public Private Partnerships in the water Sector

· Key provisions under this Bill include:

• Clause 3 which amends Section 32 of the Water Act to allow the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority to enter into bulk water purchase agreements with an investor in accordance with the provisions of the Public Private Partnership Act.

• Clause 4 which amends Section 68 of the Water Act to allow waterworks development agencies to operate water works and provide water services by entering into bulk water purchase agreements with an investor in accordance with the provisions of the Public Private Partnership Act.
